It's Official! Drumroll, Please!

My New Year's Visit to Taiwan at Taipei 101

I am SO thrilled to announce my final decision with where I will be teaching this fall- I will be teaching in the beautiful country of Taiwan at Concordia English Language Academy, a Christian/missions school that is in the southwestern part of Taiwan in the city of Chiayi (pronounced jyah-ee).

I was originally going to teach in this country once I decided on Asia. I then changed gears and went to teach in South Korea, which was a great experience in itself. Pause for a moment as I reflect on how different my experiences would have been in a completely different country with different people, different events, different opportunities, different doors and windows! But through it all, I learned a lot, and am thankful for my great experience in Korea. I learned about a unique and friendly culture and made many friends there. (I am so close, that I just may have to visit some of them. And if anyone is in Taiwan, definitely look me up!)

I visited Taiwan on my Christmas/New Year's break while I was teaching in Korea and it was a place I fell in love with - see my post here for more info on that! I knew I wanted to go back. I got the opportunity to visit the YWAM base in Taipei and knew I wanted to return to be in this amazingly awesome outreach missions training adventure program!

Now that I have the opportunity to go and teach in a missions school, I am very excited about what is ahead. I prayed about it and thought about this a lot if it was God's will for me. After some time in prayer, (read: A LOT) He really gave me a deep peace about it. I felt more confident and didn't dwell on my doubts or fears. I felt that it was right in my heart and  knew for almost a day before I actually finalized the decsion that this was the right thing!

I am also excited about the prospect of possibly being in YWAM afterward. The school year would be September to June and then I would be able to do YWAM the following September or March.

Taiwan is an island, so there is the danger of flooding. I would not be right near the coast, but near enough that my area could still be at risk, though they do have a Flood Prevention Pumping station located nearby.

It sounds like a great community to be in and a great opportunity to develop more professionally as well as have great opportunities to reach out to the community here and learn more about the culture and language of Mandarin Chinese- which I would love to start learning! The spiritual aspects of the community sound very strong as well and there seems to be a great atmosphere to connect to others and build godly relationships while walking together on our faith journeys adventures.

Please prayerfully consider supporting me to get to Taiwan and start out.  Please read more on the Support page or click the Donate button at the bottom of the post to share in this ministry in Taiwan.

Below is the link for the school and missions team I would be joining in the fall.

Also, please feel free to email me with any questions/comments/encouraging words/advice/etc. ANY amount you can give would truly help! I pray that God will use all of us somehow to reach the lost, to share His love and to reflect Christ in some way.

I would also love to hear from anyone who would like to support me in prayer, as that is a huge part of this. A regular pray partner or anyone who feels led to pray for me and wants to know more about what to pray for, please feel free to contact me.

Verse: Deuteronomy 4:29; Related: Deuteronomy 6:5; Jeremiah 29:13

Please pray now, firstly, for the kids there and that God would bring them to Him and prepare them and their hearts, pray for salvation and for them to grow close to God.

Pray that I would start out strong and be a flexible learner and a great teacher to the kids, that I would develop my teaching skills and really get to be a part of the community while I am there and that I would be a positive part of the ministry with the gifts God has given me. Pray that I would be filled with more of God's love everyday to share with others and that I would be fearless in doing what God has for me.
